Located amidst hills and rivers, the temporary campus of IIM Sambalpur is functioning in a state of The art buildings at the Jyoti Vihar, Burla – the education hub comprising the Sambalpur University, and elite Medical and Engineering University. Specked in the picturesque settings and nestled in Barapahad (Twelve Hills), the temporary campus lies at one end of Hirakud Dam – world’s longest earthen dam and is surrounded by mountains, verdant forests, and Debrigarh wild life sanctuary making the town very picturesque and close to Nature. The natural beauty of the jungles, river bed and dam itself would surely not let down the birdwatcher and animal lovers.

The campus is surrounded by large number of big industries such as MCL, HINDALCO, Vedanta, TATA’S, NTPC, L&T etc. which provide opportunities on real life experiential learning for students of IIM Sambalpur.
The wi-fi enabled campus houses, Academic building, the classrooms, hostels and the auditorium. The library offers an extensive collection of physical and digital resources comprising books and e-books, print and e-journals, an exhaustive range of databases, reference titles, case studies, and other materials. The hostel block also accommodates the mess, 24×7 cafeteria, Health care centre and gym for the fitness freaks which are under construction.
Faculty residences are located in the newly build housing complex called “Greater Sambalpur” close proximity to the campus with all the modern amenities and facilities. The institute has well-furnished guest houses that provide stay for visiting faculty, corporate, and guests.
IIM Sambalpur is one of the six new Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) set up by the Government of India in 2015. Mentored by IIM Indore, IIM Sambalpur is registered as a Society under Societies Registration Act, XXI of 1860 on August 19, 2015. The present campus of IIM Sambalpur has been set up at Jyoti Vihar, Burla, Sambalpur, Odisha. IIM Sambalpur has been allotted a piece of land measuring over 237 acres in Basantpur, for the permanent campus by the Government of Odisha.
The Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management at IIM Sambalpur is a two-year, full-time, residential programme. The programme aims to groom participants into competent professional managers. The PGP in Management is spread over two years, each year consisting of three terms. While transiting from the first to the second year, the participant spends eight weeks on a summer project in a business organization. The academic year begins in June/July and ends in March/April of the following year.
This placement season, the institute hosted 49 companies including many first time recruiters who doled out a total of 69 offers to the students of IIM Sambalpur. The prominent ones are Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Vedanta, Reliance Jio, OYO Rooms, Ericsson, Motilal Oswal, IQVIA, Newgen, Evalueserve, Parekh Group, HDFC Bank, SBI Life, Aarthi Industries and AGS Transact among many other companies. The students were offered highly coveted roles across various domains such as BFSI, Consulting, Sales & Marketing, Marketing Research, Business Development, Operations, and HR.
The average and median CTCs of the batch stood at Rs. 11.33 Lacs and 9.23 Lacs respectively, with the highest international and domestic CTCs being Rs. 58.00 Lacs and 20.00 Lacs respectively. The CTC for the top quartile of the batch stood at Rs. 18.92 Lacs while the top 50% of the batch secured an average salary of Rs. 14.30 Lacs.
